Shillong, August 12: Arrested GNLA chairman Champion R Sangma has again been remanded to fifteen days police custody by the court of the first class magistrate I Rymbui on Sunday morning. The GNLA leader was produced at around 11.30 and according to his advocate Sujit Dey he has asked the court to direct the police to supply him with newspapers.
Speaking to Oh! Meghalaya after the militant leader was produced in the court, Dey said, “I did not object to the fifteen days police custody the Investigating Officer (IO) had prayed before the court. The IO K Prasad had asked the court for fifteen days police custody so that Sangma could be interrogated.
During the hearing, Sangma is also said to have requested the court to allow his advocate to be present during the police interrogation. Dey said, “I will know only tomorrow whether the court will listen to my client’s prayer.”
According to Dey, his client appears to be in good health and is cooperating with the police during interrogation. He said, “My client is cooperating with the police during the interrogation.”–By Our Reporter
