10 more die of COVID-19, 846 new cases detected

SHILLONG, MAY 26: Ten more persons have succumbed to COVID-19, pushing the death toll to 512 on Wednesday even as the number of active cases in the state crossed the 8,000-mark, after 846 new cases were detected.

 

According to the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 8 deaths were reported in East Khasi Hills district and one each in West Jaintia Hills district and East Jaintia Hills district.

 

Of the 846 new cases, Dr War said 527 were detected in East Khasi Hills, 84 South West Khasi Hills, 72 West Garo Hills, 43 South West Garo Hills, 36 East Jaintia Hills, 23 North Garo Hills, 19 West Jaintia Hills, 19 East Garo Hills, 18 Ri Bhoi and 5 South Garo Hills.

 

He also informed that as many as 752 patients have also recovered from the viral infection during the past 24 hours.

 

Of these, 548 are from East Khasi Hills, 92 Ri Bhoi, 44 West Jaintia Hills, 22 East Jaintia Hills, 22 West Garo Hills, 7 South West Garo Hills, 6 South Garo Hills, 6 North Garo Hills, 3 East Garo Hills and 2 South West Khasi Hills.

 

So far, the state has detected a total of 32,295 COVID-19 cases out of which 8,055 are active cases, 23,728 recovered and 512 deaths.

 

With 4232 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 1,238 cases.

 

There are 620 cases in West Garo Hills, 531 West Jaintia Hills, 377 South West Garo Hills, 237 East Jaintia Hills, 197 South West Khasi Hills, 182 North Garo Hills, 160 West Khasi Hills, 147 South Garo Hills and 134 East Garo Hills.
