SHILLONG, JULY 2: Laitkroh MDC Carmel Sohtun Tuesday urged the outgoing Governor RS Mooshahary to withheld his assent to the proposed Amendment Bill of Khasi Hills Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Council) (Amendment) Rules, 2013.
The Governor was requested to withhold his assent to the bill as Sohtun and traditional heads are opposed to do away with the Laitkroh constituency in the delimitation bill of the KHADC.
In the representation to Mooshahary submitted on Tuesday Sohtun claims that KHADC push through the delimitation bills in during the budget session without conducting any public hearing.
Claiming that the proposed bill was not included in the list of business of the KHADC session Sohtun said told reporters, “We are very much against the move and have urged the Governor to intervene into the matter in the interest of the people of the area.”
Meantime Sohtun was advised by Mooshahary, who term is over and will make way for the new Governor on Monday, to submit the same presentation to the new Governor KK Paul.- By Our Reporter
