SHILLONG, NOV 17: Intrigued with the frequent visits of the BJP led NDA ministers to Meghalaya, chief minister Mukul Sangma said the ruling Congress will investigate into the motives of the frequent visits to the union ministers.
“We will analyse, we will assess and we will investigate on their intend and come up at the right time and tell you,” chief minister Mukul Sangma told journalists while reacting to a query whether such visits are linked to “electoral games”.
The north eastern states including Meghalaya have witnessed frequent visits by union ministers heading the different line ministries of the central government in the past one year.
Stating that every political party has its own agenda, Sangma however said that the coming of the central ministers into the region is to show that they are very concern about the NE region but added their motive needs a looked in.
He cited to an instance where a union minister, who visited the state recently, failed to give audience to a delegation despite seeking prior appointment.
“If they (union ministers) didn’t have time why did they come in the first instance you look and find out which union minister am referring to,” Sangma said while adding if they don’t have time, why spend so much of money as they are not coming free of cost.
“Are they paying from their own pocket?. The fact is that it is going from public exchequer. If they come they must do justice to why they are coming here,” he added.
