SHILLONG, MAY 12: Continuing with the ‘Safe-Secure-Shillong’ project, the district police are flagging off a new programme titled ‘Visiting My Police Station’.
In this simple programme, an invitation will be made to all schools/colleges to organize a visit of the students to a police station. The aim is to remove the fear of a police station in the mindset of the youths and to inculcate in them that police station does not only deal with criminals but is also a service delivery centre.
The students will get an opportunity of having knowledge of the functioning of a police station and understand that it is meant to serve the public. On the other side, it will make the police personnel at Thana level more people friendly.
Starting off today Class XII students of two schools Jail Road Government Girls High School and Jail Road Government Boy’s High School visited Sadar police station and got first hand information of the functioning of the police station, traffic branch, Women police station and police control room.
