SHILLONG, JUNE 22: The Meghalaya government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into Tura’s Friday mob mayhem that led to one death, torching of several vehicles and also mass exodus of migrant labourers from Garo hills.Meghalaya home minister Roshan Warjri has directed the West Garo hills deputy commissioner Pravin Bakshi to complete the inquiry into the Tura incident which led to imposition of curfew within two weeks and submit the report to the government.
The Meghalaya government also condemned the alleged molestation of the eighteen years old girl and the subsequent violence that took place as mob reaction to incident.
The government also warned on stringent action as per the law will be taken against all those involved in these incidents. The government also appealed to all sections of the society to maintain calm and communal harmony.- By Our Reporter
