Survey has been asked to explain non-inclusion of Langpih, Block I & II in the map

Shillong, Oct 15: Meghalaya Chief Secretary WMS Pariat said the Survey of India has been asked to come out with facts on the non-inclusion of Langpih, Block I and Block II which are “disputed-areas” in the 2009 “Map” of Meghalaya. The non inclusion has raised eye-brows in the state.

Pariat told reporters Monday, “I’ve asked for a report and even called on the Survey of India so that we can get whatever facts relating to the non-inclusion of these areas in the Map of 2009.”.

Pariat assured that the status of Langpih and other disputed areas remains the same.  He said Meghalaya is claiming Langpih and others parts and will continue to do so. He said talk between the two states on this issue is still going on.

The non-inclusion of Langpih and Block I and II was detected through the Right to Information filed by the CSWO in the 2009 map of Meghalaya published by the Survey of India under the direction of Surveyor General of India, Dehradun.

The CSWO had even sought clarifications from the Chief Secretary on the non-inclusion of these areas.-  By Our Reporter
