SHILLONG, APR 29: Asking the United Democratic Party (UDP) to stop political posturing over the power crisis in the state, chief minister Mukul Sangma on Tuesday instead asked the regional party to provide suggestions if it has better ideas on how to over the crisis.
“This is not the time to take political posturing, I would rather tell to my friends in UDP which are responsible parties of the state to rather give suggestion to the state government if they have any as to how such an issue can be addressed.’ Sangma told reporters.
Sangma statement came following a sit-in-demonstration staged by the UDP protesting against the government’s failure to address the present power crisis that is hitting the state hard.
Sangma also said, “We should remind ourselves what happen when the state government decided to develop power projects in year 2007 – 08. Many decisions were taken during the period which was for the interest of the state but was negated by the then government led by the UDP.”
Sangma, therefore, reiterated that this is not the time for political posturing on such issues.
“We will be more receptive to any kind of suggestions and government is already taking measures to ensure MeECL and its entities are made to turn around and not be a losing concern,” Sangma added.- By Our Reporter
