“I am yet to decide on the matter but it will depend on the Ka Synjuk Ki Rangbah Kur, which is still in the formation stage now, whether they will allow me to contest or not,” Shylla told reporters here on Friday.
The KHADC chief, who is also the sitting NPP MDC from Nongkrem, has already announced his decision not to contest in the upcoming district council polls slated to be held on February 27.
Shylla, who is heading the adhoc committee of the Ka Synjuk Ki Rangbah Kur (KSRK), a conglomerate body of clan elders, said he is now interested on how to strengthen the tribal clan organisations instead of contesting elections. There are over 3,000 tribal clans.
“Through the Synjuk, we can educate the people on how to elect good public representatives too,” he said.
Shylla informed that the general council of the Synjuk will be held at the Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture, Bivar Road, in the city on February 2.
