Addressing the Golden Jubilee of Teaching Science in Shillong College on Tuesday, Mondal said, “So far as Meghalaya is concern, the IT sector can go a long way in making Shillong an IT hub because of its climatic condition and will also provide job opportunities to the unemployed educated youths of the region.”
According to Mondal, Science education is important and with the innovation of the new technologies it has becoming more and more important.
Stating that Meghalaya is witnessing increased problem of unemployment, Mondal informed, “White colour jobs is almost exhausted in the different government departments which make it impossible for the government to meet the high demand for jobs.”
Mondal also dished out figure saying that there are over 1.20 lakhs unemployed youths who have applied for only 1200 vacancy posts in the recent police recruitment drive conducted by the government. Pointing out that it is time to look for an alternative solution, he said, “We have to look for opportunities in the private sectors and IT sector is one area which will generate employment in the state.”
Congratulating the college on its achievement, Mondal encouraged the college to continue its contribution for the upliftment of human resources in the state.
