‘Run to Vote’ organized

SHILLONG, MAR 23: As part of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation, the District Election Officer (DEO) of North Garo hills in collaboration with District Sports Association, organised marathon with the catch-word “Run to Vote” from Salpara playground in Mendipathar to Resubelpara Mini Stadium on Saturday. The run was participated by 1562 runners.

In the men’s category, Clever G Momin of Soksan,  Pobitro Rabha  of Jonglapara and Kamal Kumar Pam of Rompara bagged the first, second and third prizes respectively.  Among the women runners, Nirma B Sangma of Dilma, Jajaline Marak of Kaldang and Julisa Momin of Gajing Jamgao had been adjudged the first, second and the third respectively.

In the oldest male category, Benard G Momin of Resu Bengdoba had been given the cash prize while Megaline Marak of Resu Nangaburi had received the cash prize for being the oldest woman runner.

Among the youngest male and female runners, Redick D Shira and Salchiriksa Momin, both from Dilma, had received the cash prizes.

On 19 March last, marathon had been organised in 37 – Kharkutta (ST) constituency in which Lockin Momin, Chaban Marak and Brustin Sangma were the winners in first, second and the third respectively among the male runners while Shyferry D Marak, Tame Sangma and Dokatchi Momin were the winners among the female runners.- By Our Reporter
