SHILLONG, APRIL 5: Prof Streamlet Dkhar, an eminent Khasi poet and dramatist, was nominated as the chief adviser and Falguni Chakraborti, a renowned Bengali poet as the president of the Association of South Asian Culture and Literature (ASACL) at the recently held South Asian Culture and Literature Summit in Bangladesh.
Prof Streamlet, along with other poets, writers and artists from Shillong were invited to attend the Summit held at Jahangirabad, Rangpur, Bangladesh from March 27-29.
Delivering her keynote address at the inaugural function, Prof Streamlet spoke at length on humanity, friendship and unity in diversity.
Chakraborti along with a young artist, Priyojit Dey performed a dewet of poetic Drama on Guru Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam, a self composed dramatic performance followed by a speech by Priyojit on the ideology of being and becoming good human.
On the other hand, Prof Bakhiamon Rynjah and Minimon Laloo also presented their poems whereas Evanisha Pathaw mesmerized the audience with her songs.
All of them were being felicitated in the function honoured by the Chief Guest Noor Mahmud Mondal, former Member of Parliament.
Ka Chad Sukhra, a Jaintia dance was also performed by the Khasi poets who are members of AIPC and also members of Ka Thiar Lyngwiar Dpei Society, Shillong.
