Panic led to early closure

SHILLONG, AUG 29: Panic gripped Shillong as news spread about the failure of  talks between ngos and the state government over the issue of implementing ILP in the state. Business establishment down their shutters early than usual and most of the main city markets like Khyndailad ( Police Bazaar), Laitumkhrah and Rynjah bazaars wore a deserted looks by 8.30 pm on Thursday.

Heavy frisking of vehicles was also carried out by police in different parts of the city along with beefing up of security. Security personnel were seen patrolling the city. East KhasI Hills SP M Kharkrang informed that the police are taking all measures to ensure that situation remains normal and police has intensified its vigil in all the areas of the city to ensure law and order is maintained.-By Our Reporter
