North GH students get Tab

RESUBELPARA, NOV 22: Meghalaya sports and youth affairs minister Zenith Sangma on Wednesday distributed Tablet PCs to the students of class XII of North Garo hills district at Dekachang playground in Resubelpara, the headquarters of North Garo Hills district. He also dedicated the Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Programme Mobile Multi Facility Vehicle to the people of the district.

The minister was accompanied by parliamentary secretaries Sengnam Marak, Cherak W Momin, Brigady N Marak GHADC chairman Purno K Sangma, resource mobilisation chairman Lambor Malniang and MTC vice chairman Sanjay Das.

Altogether six hundred class XII students of the entire district were given PC Tablets under the Chief Minister’s Digital Learning Aid Scheme at an impressive gathering, attended by teachers, students and parents from all over the district.

Sangma said that the digital learning aid scheme is a unique initiative step taken by the government to empower the youth with knowledge and skill to further their academic careers. He informed that the PC-Tablet is preloaded with the syllabus content of MBOSE, CBSE and other competitive examinations to help students prepare and gear up for the entrance test in the future and that the student digital learning aid would be highly useful for the students adding sustainable and lifelong value in their learning experience.

The tablet is also Wi-Fi enabled so that students can utilize the internet in Wi-Fi hot spot areas to search for answers to their academic queries, Sangma said.

Informing that a new scheme has been sanctioned last month wherein Wi-Fi connectivity will be available in every classroom where the PC Tablet will be utilized Sangma said that a similar digital learning aid is on the cards for students of Class XI, X and IX students. He however urged the students not to misuse the PC Tablets.

Sangma asserted that education is one of the major sectors in creating job avenues to the educated unemployed youth of the state, adding that the best way to invest is in education. He urged the students to make the best use of the technology and make a better future for themselves and society. He called upon the student community to be sincere and to work hard in their studies so that they can shine and prosper in life.

Sangma while dedicating the IBDLP Mobile Multi Facility Vehicle to the people of North Garo Hills highlighted the various schemes available in the district headquarters and the block and urged the people to avail those schemes.

Earlier, North Garo Hills deputy commissioner W Khyllep apprised the gathering of the importance of the distribution of PC Tablets to the class XII students of the district. He stated that the programme had a three pronged significance, namely the distribution of the digital learning aid, dedication of the mobile multi facility vehicle and the commemoration of the one year existence of the IBDLP. – By Our Reporter
