Ka Likai is one of the most heartbreaking legends you will hear. Likai was a young widow in the ancient village of Rangjyrteh located on the hills overlooking a powerful, surging waterfall. Likai’s life was full of hardship. Her parents died when she was a little girl and soon after she gave birth to her own daughter, her husband died. She remarried for the sake of her baby girl, but the man she thought would help her take care of the child began to ill-treat them after a few months. One day, she came home to find a meal cooked and waiting for her. She ate it and with horror, realised her husband had cooked her baby and fed it to her. Unable to handle the grief that followed, she jumped to her death from the cliff of the waterfalls. Locals named the falls Noh Ka Likai Falls in her memory.
