SHILLONG, OCT 29: National People’s Party (NPP) leader and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong on Friday said no seasoned politicians are ready to join the opposition Congress.
Referring to the Congress as a “sinking ship”, Tynsong said,“I don’t think seasoned politicians will join the Congress. Why? You know well even madam Sonia Gandhi herself admitted that we have so much differences and infightings within the party…”
He added, “Even MPCC President Vincent H Pala said yes I have a difference with Mukul Sangma, so it is very clear, so there is no secret anymore.”
Tynsong further said that as long as the infighting takes place, the party will become a broken family due division among the members.
“…the moment it becomes a broken family means we call it a sinking ship, a sinking ship ultimately means you need to jump from the sinking ship otherwise you will be dead,” the former Congress leader asserted.
The deputy chief minister also maintained that there is no question of shifting from the NPP to the Congress. “It is not there except for those people who are not at all experts to know exactly what the situation within the Congress is, be it in the state or the national level, they may do so,” he said.
Reacting to former home minister HDR Lyngdoh’s allegation that the NPP is looting the state for strengthening its organization in other states of the country, Tynsong while slamming the Congress leader said, “It means HDR Lyngdoh is talking to himself. Is he trying to say that Congress did not do that? When I was in the Congress it was mandatory that we have to contribute to the party, not in the state it goes to Delhi for strengthening the party in different states in India. (Therefore) he should first ask himself why he should be contributing a lot to AICC. What for?”
