SHILLONG, MAY 8: The North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) is commencing regular ‘Tele-Consultation OPDs’ from May 11.
Announcing this here on Friday, Director Dr DM Thappa said due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the patients are neither able to reach the hospital nor able to consult their doctors.
“Keeping in view the difficulties of the patients, NEIGRIHMS is commencing regular tele consultation services with effect from May 11,” he said.
The services will include for general medicine, cardiology, dental, orthopedics, psychiatry, palliative care, obstetrics & gynecology, neurology, urology, oncology, dermatology, ENT and ophthalmology.
He said this is in addition to the COVID-19 tele-consultation services already being offered. These services will be manned by the consultants/faculty from the concerned departments on their allocated dates and timings.
The director said these services are beign commenced in order to address the difficulties that patients and families face in obtaining medical services during this pandemic. “These consultations will become part of their regular medical records,” he added.
