SHILLONG, JUNE 5: The North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong has been ranked number 40 among the higher educational institutions in the academic sector by the prestigious Nature Index for the year 2020.
Congratulating all the stakeholders in making it possible for NEHU to achieve this latest feat, Vice-Chancellor Prof Sri Krishna Srivastava said the latest endorsement by a prestigious body like Nature Index shows that NEHU continues to be the centre for excellence and is continuously fulfilling its objectives of providing instructional and research facilities.
The 2020 tables are based on Nature index data from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019.
Each year, the Nature Index publishes rankings based on counts of high-quality research outputs, and is the indicator for international research performance.
“Springer Nature” publishes top academia journals and Nature Index data and methods are very transparent and have high international credibility.
The ranking tables by Nature Index are computed subject-wise taking into account all subjects/journals and here too NEHU has obtained high rankings among the institutions in India.
Chemistry in NEHU has ranked 31 while Life Sciences at 42 and Physical Sciences at 51.
This latest ranking comes in the heels of last year’s equally prestigious National Institutional Rankings Framework (NIRF) rankings by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India for Indian educational institutes where NEHU ranked 39th in the University category
