Meghalaya Govt to fill up 2,500 vacancies in police force

The State government will soon fill up over 2,500 vacancies in the police department.

Informing this after the cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Cabinet Minister Marcuise N Marak said, “We have approved the revised uniform guidelines for recruitment of police personnel in Meghalaya police.”

Principal Secretary incharge personnel department Cyril Diengdoh said this is the recruitment of all ranks of police including sub inspectors, armed branch constables and unarmed branch constables including fireman and MPRO operators.

The central recruitment board (CRB) is conducting the recruitment for the police force as per rules.

“We had seen in the past that these recruitments would take quite a long time because of the various rules so we have tried to streamline the rules so that we can ensure that the recruitment process is completed efficiently, transparently in faster possible time. These rules are quite a few but just to summarize these rules are to ensure that the recruitment process for SI, constables (AB/UB) would be conducted efficiently and taking the least possible time,” he said.

To a question, Diengdoh said that there are about 2,500 vacancies in the police department.

“After these rules are amended it will be notified and once it is notified the advertisement will be called for these vacancies approximately 2,500 actual numbers will depend on the advertisements and CRB will try to ensure that the recruitment is conducted and completed at the earliest possible time,” he said.
