TURA, APR 8: The Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) members on Friday took up an initiative to clean up
the council office and its premises, which was completely messy.
Dust and dirt was all over as the members, mostly from the ruling bench were seen cleaning in tandem with the council staffs throughout the day.
National People’s Party (NPP) national president Conrad Kongkal Sangma was also present during the cleaning drive and engaged in discussion with the staffs asking them to keep the office clean.
“The idea was to create a sense of belonging among the staffs. Meghalaya governor V Shanmuganathan is set to visit district council, so the members decided that the office need to be given a facelift”, said Conrad.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) Denang T. Sangma, Chairman Boston Marak and other executive members and MDCs were cleaning their respective official chamber. Council officials informed that the drive was initiated to create a healthy working atmosphere in the run up to the council day, which is on April 14.
The accumulation of dust in the office was huge giving an impression that the office was not cleaned up for all these years.-By Our Correspondent
