SHILLONG, APR 24: As the homoeopathic and ayurvedic hospitals in Tura, Jowai and Nongpoh have been non functional since the past nine years after completion, the Meghalaya health minister AL Hek convened a meeting with the department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) to discuss on how to make these hospital s functional.
The reason for these three hospitals remaining non functional is because of lack of manpower.
During the meeting on Thursday, it was suggested that man power should be provided by the National Rural Health Mission (NHRM) under plan implementation programme (PIP).
Hek said that there is no supply of medicines from the union government and no further fund has been provided due to non-submission of the utilization certificate. He told reporters, “I have directed the department to submit the utilization certificate within three months,” he said. – By Our Reporter
