Lajong boss Ming is youngest AIFF vice-president

Shillong, Dec. 21:  Larsing M, the man instrumental in putting Shillong on the football of India, added a feather on his cap by becoming the youngest ever vice-president of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the governing body of soccer in the country.

35-year-old Ming, who is the secretary of both Shillong Lajong FC and the Meghalaya Football Association, was elected to the post of vice-president representing the north-east at the annual general meeting of the AIFF in Delhi on Friday. Union minister Praful Patel was reelected the AIFF president.

“I am happy to be appointed the vice president of the federation. I hope to host some international matches in Shillong,” Ming told ohmeghalaya.com over phone. The young football official, of course, is the man behind the city’s first I-League team, Shillong Lajong FC.  He took over the charge of the club about from his father P. D. Siawan a decade back and guided Lajong to I-League in 2009-10. Lajong, however, was relegated to the second division the following year, but climbed back to the I-League in 2011-12. Ming is a state-level footballer himself, having represented Meghalaya at the national level in 1998. He was also a part of Lajong junior team that took part in FIT 1992.

Mather (vice-president, South), Subrata Dutta (vice-president, East),  Subhash Chopra (vice-president, North),  Larsing Sawyan (vice-president, North-East) and Hardev Jadeja (treasurer).
