SHILLONG, SEP 6: The Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA) District Project Management Unit-CLLMP, East Khasi Hills in collaboration with the District Administration on Wednesday held a Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) program at Phudmyrdong B under Mawphlang C&RD Block. R M Kurbah, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills cum Chairman, District Project Management Unit, East Khasi Hills District graced the programme as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner stressed on the importance of teamwork, emphasizing that a small hamlet as Phudmyrdong-B, with 70 households, has great potential for achieving significant progress through cooperation among its residents and effective leadership. She encouraged youths to utilize their talents as a means of livelihood and offered to provide training to help them hone their skills and also emphasized the importance of parents ensuring that children under 14 years of age are enrolled in school.
She urged the residents to make efforts to transform their village into a model village and take initiative in this regard and stressed on the significance of health by highlighting how good health contributes to wealth and vice versa. She further encouraged parents to ensure that their children are immunized and emphasized the importance of maintaining village infrastructure for long-term benefits.
She further suggested that the village should conduct soil testing to identify plant species that can generate maximum profit and advocated for establishment of kitchen gardens in every household, especially in the Anganwadi center.
During the programme the Deputy Commissioner also inaugurated the Training Hall in the presence of the Chairman of Phudmyrdong-B, Bah Laibodsing Kharphuli, staff of DPMU, and residents of Phudmyrdong.
