Kargil war martyr remembered in city

SHILLONG, JULY 26: A wreath laying ceremony was today held at the Rhino Heritage Museum, Shillong Cantonment to pay homage to martyrs of the 1999 Kargil War and commemorate the glorious victory of the Indian Armed Forces in operation Vijah.

The focus of the solemn ceremony was paying homage to late Captain Keishing Clifford Nongrum, MVC whose exemplary courage and sacrificed led to the capture of PT 4812 in Batalik Sector in one of the decisive battles of the war.

Lieutenant general Depinder Singh Ahuja, general officer commanding 101 Area and senior Army officials laid wreath on the martyr’s memorial during the ceremony.

Keishing Peter Nongrum and Saily Nongrum, parents of late Captain Nongrum and his other family members were also present on the occasion.
