The assurance was made by the MeECL joint secretary after the aggrieved candidates and KHNAM leaders staged a surprise dharna in front of the office here on Friday, which has affected the movement of employees and vehicles.
Earlier, a protest march was also organized from Students’ Field, Jaiaw to MeECL office at Lumjingshai as mark to expressed strong dismay against the delay of the authority concerned to appoint the candidates.
“The MeECL joint secretary D Warjri assured the delegation that the process of appointing all the candidates for the jugali posts would be completed in the month of June,” KHNAM state youth wing president Thomas Passah said.
The Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) had declared as many as 772 successful candidates for the Jugali posts, after a delay of five years.
Following pressure, the MeECL had decided to issue the appointment letters to candidates in three phases.
While 290 candidates under the phase-I have been issued with the appointment letters, a total of 466 candidates under phase-II and phase-III are yet to be appointed till today.
Passah further informed they have demanded that the candidates of both phase-I and phase-III should be appointed in one go keeping in view that the merit list will expire on August 2.
Asked, he however said that they are also preparing to file a petition before the Meghalaya High Court if the MeECL fails to pay heed to their demand put forth.
