SHILLONG, FEB 6: A six-member Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) consultancy team have visited the East Garo Hills district from 4 to 5 February for conducting preparatory surveys of draft final project report on the EAP JICA project entitled-“Sustainable Management of Community Forest and Biodiversity Conservation for Livelihood Improvement”
The JICA team had a consultative meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, Swapnil Tembe and the heads of other line-departments. During their field visit the team visited places like Nongchram, Darugre Range Forest Office, Dawachipit village, High-Tech Forest Nursery, Rapdikgre, Nengmandalgre, Megagre and Tongbolgre villages.
The team also had a series of interactive sessions with the communities and line department officials to understand various natural resource management practices, agri-forestry initiatives, conservation initiatives, cultural heritage etc.
