“We will be taking out an indefinite hunger strike at any time if the state government is adamant towards our grievances,” AMDA president Kitbok Thabah told reporters at a press conference held here on Monday.
He said the decision was taken after there was no positive response from the chief minister Mukul Sangma despite the association had sought appointment for more than three times.
“We demand the CM to invite us for talk before the upcoming 2018 election failing which we will have no other option but to go ahead with the proposed agitations,” Thabah said.
Asked, the AMDA president said that the association has been demanding the setting up of Dancing and Singing Institute and a separate budget provision for dancers and singers from the state.
According to him, the state government has neglected young and talented youths who have represented the state especially at the national platforms, which many times they have seek for sponsorships on being selected to be able to participate in such competitions.
Meanwhile, the association has also demanded the state government to include dancing and singing as part of the curriculum in the schools and colleges.
