SHILLONG, MAY 7: Once again St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School occupied most of the top ten position in both the science and commerce stream of the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examination 2015 in the results declared by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) on Thursday afternoon.

the Science stream while Priyanka Surana secured the first top ten position in the Commerce. Both the toppers are students of the prestigious St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School.

Of the total 3364 students that include 1699 female candidates, 2546 students cleared the HSSLC science stream examination with the total percentage of 75.68 per cent. In commerce stream, 2377 students appeared for the examination, 1719 were declared successful recording 72.32 per cent.

However, the females outshined the male candidates in both the stream.

West Jaintia Hills district registered the highest pass percentage in science stream with 80.25 per cent, followed by West Khasi Hills with 79.37 per cent, while North Garo Hills scored the lowest percentage of pass with 37.50 percent.

However, East Khasi Hills district which is considered to be the seat of education registered 78.66 percentage of pass with 1732 of the 2202 clearing the examination.

In the commerce examination, North Garo Hills district (7 students appeared) and East Garo Hills (17 students) shared a 100 percentage of pass percentage followed by South West Khasi Hills with 93.10 per cent, East Jaintia Hills with 91.11 percent.

However, in East Khasi Hills district out of the 1762 students who appeared, which the maximum in the state, 1323 passed the examination. The percentage of pass in the district is 75.09.- By Our Reporter
