SHILLONG, MAY 27: A divisional bench of Meghalaya high court comprising chief justice Meena T Kumari and justice TNK Singh directed the Meghalaya government constituted High Level Scrutiny Committee of Officials (HLSCO) to submit its enquiry report on the education job scam that rocks the state last year within two months.
The HLSCO was asked to complete its inquiry within two months into the alleged tampering of mark sheets on the appointment of assistant teachers in government lower primary schools in the state which was revealed in the CBI findings.
The order was passed after hearing the state government’s plea to the court seeking an extension of another six months to complete the inquiry.
The divisional bench also directed the committee to acquire the documents in connection with the findings of the CBI since the court found that no documents were in the custody of its registry.
The state government had filed its application on February 18, 2013 praying to the court to grant another 6 months to complete the probe.
Earlier the HLSCO had claimed that it did not get the necessary documents to complete its job in examining the alleged tampering of mark sheets in the teachers’ appointment. Reportedly, the HLSCO could not proceed with its task as the government did not make any attempt to provide necessary documents including the score sheets.
After hearing the appeal of the state government, the high court had on May 13 asked its registry to submit the documents within two weeks.- By Our Reporter
