SHILLONG, MAY 24: Firming up his allegations against the CMJ University, Meghalaya governor RS Mooshahary who had blow the lit off the alleged fake degrees issued by the institute even as it made fresh revelation saying that the institute has furnished misleading list of Ph.D scholars and guides and also violated UGC regulations and guidelines by setting off campus centers outside Meghalaya.
A letter from Mooshahary sent to the CMJ Foundation on Friday has directed the University to comply with all its directives within June 10, 2013.
Mooshahary letter alleged that the CMJ University has awarded PhD degrees to more individuals in addition to the list of 434 persons that was furnished to his office and also provided misleading the list of PhD guides.
The letter said, “The University is directed to furnish fresh lists of Ph.D scholars enrolled and Ph.D awarded separately with full detail of each student as well as furnish the list of guides from the start of Ph.D enrollment with their consent letters.”
The letter also directed the university to furnish the annual accounts, the balance sheet and the audit report to the Visitor in terms of section 46 (4) of the CMJ University Act, 2009.
The letter further reminded that the University must also comply with the directives issued on April 30.
The letter has asked the University to also refund all the fees charged along with interest to the students who wish to withdraw from the CMJ University within 15 days of intimation by the concerned student(s).
The letter also said that the CMJ University is running several off campus centres outside Meghalaya which is not permissible under the UGC (Establishment of and Maintenance of Standards in Private Universities) Regulations, 2003 and the decision of Supreme court order in 2005. The letter stated, “These actions are in gross violation of UGC Regulations and guidelines.”
The letter observed, “The irregularities and violations clearly amount to mismanagement, mal-administration and failure in the accomplishment of the objectives of the University which attracts the provisions of Section 48 of the CMJ University Act, 2009 relating to Dissolution of the University.”
The letter directed the University to comply with the Friday’s directive and the earlier ones by June 10 failing which the office of the Governor will construed that the CMJ University has no ability to correct the deficiencies. The letter also suggested the university can approach the police for copies of any seized records and documents for the purpose of compliance with these directives.- By Our Reporter
