GNLA chief could not be produce in court due to jail agitation

Shillong, Oct 10: Due to the ongoing agitations by the jail staff of the Shillong District Jail, the GNLA chairman Champion R Sangma could not be produced before the court Wednesday.

Champion was supposed to be produced before the court Wednesday since the court could not take up the matter Tuesday as its staff and even his lawyer failed to turn up due to the 12-hour bandh called by the HANM in all six districts of Khasi-Jaintia.

However, sources informed that the court has already taken up the matter of framing of charges against the GNLA chief. The court is like to give its order on October 26.

The GNLA chief is at present charged under Section 121 (a) IPC/ 16, 18, 38, 1 & 2 of UAP (Unlawful Activities Prevention) Act 1967.-By Our Reporter
