SHILLONG, JAN 5: District Council Affairs (DCA) Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said the state government will try to hold the elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) at the earliest.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Rymbui said the administrator’s rule imposed in the GHADC will be over by April 16.
“So before that, the election has to be held except if there are some extraordinary circumstances or situation which we cannot help,” he said.
The GHADC was brought under the administrator’s rule in October last year after the state government’s decision to postpone the election due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
