SHILLONG, FEB 7: Four nomination papers were rejected during the scrutiny on Thursday leaving total of three hundred and fifty-one candidates in the fray for the sixty-Meghalaya assembly seats election slated for February 23.
The nomination papers rejected by the Election Commission of India (ECI) are of Nongstoin Congress candidate Nestingdar Nongdhar Mairang HSPDP candidate Nit Shabong Nongstoin UDP candidate Nerius Syiemlieh and Raliang UDP candidate Biris Passi.
A total of three hundred and fifty-five 355 candidates had filed their nominations, but now onlythree hundred and fifty-one are left in the fray.
Meghalaya chief electoral officer P Naik said that the last date of withdrawal of nomination papers is on Saturday. Naik said filing of nomination was completed without any incident
