SHILLONG, MAY 26: Eldora Belsy Lyngdoh, a lecturer by profession from Shillong is all set to represent India in the upcoming Mrs Asia, an international beauty pageant for married women.
The event will be held in Malaysia from June 6 to 10, in which married women from various Asian countries will participate.
Lyngdoh (40), a mother of twins and resident of Mawkhar got selected after winning the second place in the Mrs India 2016 under the category of classic Asia International world, contest held in Chennai earlier this month.
She is a lecturer of physic in the Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Shillong.
“She (Eldora) will be representing India to Malaysia,” Director for NE Nupur Saigal, who is also winner of Mrs India 2015, told reporters on Thursday.
Apart from Eldora, four others were also adjudged as winners in the Mrs India, 2016 which include 51 year-old Maria Goretti Marshiangbai, an employee in the Water Resources Development Agency Meghalaya.
Marshiangbai, who is a mother of 7 children and 10 grandchildren, won the Mrs Goodwill Ambassador and subtitle Mrs India Charming.
Along with her, Kamaljeet Kapoor lovingly called as Minu (41) from Dhankheti won the Mrs Beautiful Eyes and Pinky Agarwal from Lum Mawbah won Mrs India Friendship.
Speaking about their experiences, Eldora said that such pageant is a platform for married women to get exposure and show their capacity.
“It is an opportunity to know other people and develop friendship besides the workshops given to us was also very enriching,” she said while encouraging married women to come forward and participate in such events.
According to her, being married is not all about spending time in the kitchen but women can also prove that they are better than that and can contribute to the society.-By Our Reporter
