Shillong, November 6: Even as state home minister Roshan Warjri and police officers condoled the death of the five policemen who were killed in Tuesday attack by the militant outfit Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants at Bangjakona near Kapasipara in the South Garo hills district, Meghalaya additional director general of police (CID) SK Jain said the state police needs to adopt a more dynamic approach while dealing with militants.
Those who were killed on Tuesday attack are constables Rakki CH Sangma, DFM Lekichyne Ryngklem, Havildar Dondiram Marak, constables Bipul Rabha and Manshanstar Nongdhar, the last three policemen belonged to the 3rd MLP battalion.
Speaking to reporters on the sideline of the condolence meeting at the police headquarter, Jain said, “The police approach have to be dynamic and productive against the militants to get good results. He said as the militants change their strategies the police need to change their strategies.
Jain, however, ruled out an eye to eye approach while dealing with militants as he said that the police are governed by the rules and have to operate strictly according to the law of the land.
Jain also informed that the police are trying to glean more information relating to yesterday’s attack by the GNLA militants killing five policemen. He also said that the operation commanders of the police are looking for fresh strategies to deal with the GNLA and other militant outfits.
Jain also said there is no paucity of policemen in any districts of the state as there are adequate presences of the police force but also added that it would always be better to have more police personnel
Meanwhile home minister Roshan Warjri informed that the government has adopted some strategies for dealing with the militants which cannot be revealed. She said review meetings are also being held.
