TURA, AUG 5: The Liberation of Achik Elite Force (LAEF) claimed to have killed one Soseng Sangma, who along with a few others had deserted the outfit. In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the outfit said the deserters had fled with arms and ammunition.
The LAEF warned others of the same fate if they deserted the outfit.
LAEF action commander Dilast Marak claimed Soseng Sangma was killed in Damal Asim, near Dadenggre at around 10 pm on Monday.
Marak stated that Soseng Sangma along with Gatthe Marak, Betbet Marak and Sengra Marak had deserted the outfit with one AK, one folding AK rifle and one Italian made hand grenade.
The high command had apparently ordered his elimination. Sangma was caught by the action commander but the others managed to escape . Marak claimed he shot Sangma for deserting the group.
According to the release, Soseng worked under the command of Rik Marak, the Bajengdoba area commander for LAEF.
Meanwhile, a police team was sent to verify the death of Sangma. A senior police officer said,“We located the body in the village as specified and he has been brought to Tura for further formalities. A case has been registered in this regard.”- From Our Correspondent
