SHILLONG, NOV 12: The West Jaintia hills district administration has directed all arms holders in the district to deposit their weapons with the police to prevent any untoward incident. The weapons are to be deposited in the next one month.The order that was issued on Wednesday came after intelligence inputs suggested that there is apprehension of certain group of persons and private individuals are carrying arms.
In view of this, the district administration’s direction was to take preventive action, to ensure that peace being maintained in the district. “We have asked all licensed arms holders to deposit their weapons with the police for safe custody till December 12 next month,” District Magistrate Donny M Wahlang said in an order.
