Convict escapes from jail in WJH

Shingingstar Pala, a convict who was serving life term imprisonment for killing his own brother-in-law in 2018, has escaped from jail taking advantage of the security breach at the jail, Inspector General of Prison M Kharkrang said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that there was negligence on the part of the jail staff, he said.

Asked if action has been taken in this regard, Kharkrang said he is still waiting for the inquiry report.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged with the police.
