SHILLONG, APR 9: Meghalaya home minister Roshan Warjri said that a total of 47 people were exempted from the ban on tinted glass in their vehicles in Meghalaya.
“The exemption order was granted by the committee constituted in pursuance with the Supreme Court order after examining the cases as per law,” Warjri said while replying to a supplementary query raised by Nongkrem legislator Ardent Basaiawmoit during the question hour in the assembly on Tuesday.
Addressing the concern expressed by Basaiawmoit that even government vehicles are continuing to use tinted glasses, Warjri said that all vehicles except those which have been exempted including VIP under Z and Z+ category are being covered under purview of the order.
Saying that new vehicles hit the road every day, Warjri said that no time frame has been fixed and the order to remove tainted glass will continue in the state. She informed implementing the Supreme Court order is a continuing process.- By Our Reporter
