SHILLONG, SEPT 22: The Achik Students’ Welfare Association (ASWA) has filed a complaint against a teacher of the Rastriya Madhiyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) school in West Garo Hills District for allegedly being absent for the past four months, which has affected the students.
In a letter to the Director of Rastriya Madhiyamik Shiksha Abhiyan A Ch Marak, ASWA vice president Walman R Marak said, “An inquiry should be conducted and proper action must be taken against the teacher.”
He said the English teacher in Selsella RMSA School has failed to attend to her duty since the month of May. This was revealed to the ASWA during a visit to the school after complaints received from students about the problems faced by them due such irregularity.
He said that according to the teachers’ daily attendance register maintained by the school, it was found that the teacher has been continuously neglecting her duty since May till date.
“The students in the school were also found to be weak in studies due to this kind of problems and it will be very difficult for the students to pass the board exams,” Walman said.
Meanwhile, the ASWA also urged the authority concerned to ensure that the erring teacher should not be provided any chance to manipulate the register of attendance or to intimidate the students and her colleagues.
