SHILLONG, SEPT 13: The Advisory Committee constituted for examining the trees in and around Shillong city today submitted its report before the Meghalaya High Court.
The division bench headed by the chief justice Dinesh Maheshwari in its order issued on Wednesday said that the Advisory Committee has carried out its task and has submitted its report in a sealed cover that has been opened and perused.
It has also directed the petitioner, K Paul, the government advocate and other counsel to study the report and make their submissions on the next date of hearing which has been fixed for tomorrow.
The Advisory Committee constituted by the Meghalaya High Court on September 7, comprises of S Ashutosh, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (R&T) and Climate Change, Government of Meghalaya and Dr K P Mohapatra, Principal Scientist Forestry, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Shillong.
In its earlier order, the bench had underlined that the Committee shall examine the trees referred by the Commissioner in her report submitted on September 4, and after necessary scientific studies, make a specific report on the status of the trees.
The Committee is also entrusted with the task to recommend the course of action considered appropriate.
