SHILLONG, JUNE 18: Meghalaya government has constituted a Complaint Committee for Protection of Women against sexual harassment at work places. State labour department principal secretary MS Rao informed in a release that the “The committee for protection of women against sexual harassment at work places in respect of factories, shops and other commercial establishments has been constituted.”
The committee will be headed by the Labour Commissioner as chairperson, special SP (CID), asst director of Social Welfare (social defence), government pleader/public prosecutor, chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, East Khasi hills district as members while the deputy labour commissioners as member secretary, Rao informed.
According to the release, the committee will enquire into all complaints regarding sexual harassment in work places adding that the committee will also address all complaints in a fixed time frame and recommend appropriate action on the same and shall also make an annual report to the government on all complaints received and action taken on these complaints.- By Our Reporter
Result will be No Harassment…if a staff is harassed by an officer would she get justice? Would the people appointed dare speak out against big powerful Officers? No way…this is just being set up to show to the world they have done it…
