SHILLONG, FEB 28: Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Conrad K. Sangma today inaugurated the two-day North East Innovators Meet & Technology Innovation and Entrepreneur Expo, 2019 here at Convocation Hall, NEHU Campus, Shillong.
Addressing the inaugural programme, the Chief Minister said that the government is trying to link up science and technology with entrepreneurship. As far as economic and job scenario in our State is concerned, people still look forward for government jobs. We need to look into the demographic change that has been happening in the State and entrepreneurship is the keyword that can bring about a difference in this aspect, he said.
People are coming up with new innovative ideas but they are not being able to push it forward. Entrepreneurship needs to become a culture and we need to push it forward to a greater height and the expos such as these will no doubt provide the much needed platform for entrepreneurs and the innovators and will also give them the opportunity to connect and interact with fellow entrepreneurs, experts, suppliers and buyers, he said.
Shri Conrad K. Sangma urged the younger generation to look at the situation as an opportunity and find possible ways to make the most out it. There will be failures, but believe me if you are committed and passionate with what you are doing, you will definitely succeed, he said.
Commissioner & Secretary, C&RD Department and CEO, MBDA, Shri P. Sampath Kumar, Commissioner & Secretary, Planning and CEO, MBMA, Dr. D. Vijay Kumar, Additional Secretary, Planning Department and Member Secretary, SCSTE, Meghalaya, Shri C. V. D. Diengdoh, NEHU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. S. K. Srivastava and Scientist and Regional Coordinator-NE National Innovation Foundation-India, NIF Guwahati Cell, Dr. Nitin Maurya was also present at the inaugural programme.
Earlier the Chief Minister along with other dignitaries visited the stalls put up at the venue.
It may be mentioned here that the main objective of the event is to provide a platform for innovators especially from Meghalaya to showcase their innovation, strengthen entrepreneurship skills and partnership through networking, to identify technologies suitable for the State and to create awareness on entrepreneur skills for the youth of the State. Apart from this, various scientific activities were lined up for the programme, such as thematic lectures, open quiz and innovative idea competition for school students, scientific interactions among scientists, innovators and school students.
