Shillong, November 5: Chief Minister’s Golf Tournament season 3 will be held at Shillong Golf Course, Shillong on November 30 and December 1. Information & public relations minister A.L Hek who is also the chairman of the organising committee informed on Tuesday about the schedule of the Chief Minister’s Golf Cup, 2013.
Others who were present were David Nongrum, MLA, Vice President Organising Committee, M. Rapsang, Director, Shillong Club in charge Golf, F Warjri, Secretary, Shillong Golf Club and Vikash Agarwal, Member Shillong Golf Club.
“The main aim and objective of holding the tournament is to promote budding golfers and tourism especially golf tourism in the State”, said Hek. He also said that this tournament will help in showcasing the rich culture and heritage of the state at the national and international level, since the tournament expects participation of golfers from different golf clubs and corporate houses all over country, besides golf clubs from Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Bangladesh.
The tournament will help in attracting prospective and potential investors for making investment in the State, opined Hek.
Stating that it is a myth that golf is a rich man game, Hek appealed to all youngsters who have talents to play golf and assured that the Shillong Golf Club will provide all possible help in promoting these young and budding golfers.
Before holding this amateur tournament, Hek informed that a cleaning drive will be organized in the golf course and its surroundings so as to make the golf course more attractive and beautiful.
Hek, therefore, appealed to the local residents in particular and to the public in general to help in maintaining cleanliness of this 18 holes natural golf course and to cooperate with the Shillong Golf Club in preserving the pristine beauty of this golf course and in making the tournament a grand success.-By Our Reporter
