Cabinet approves Meghalaya Engineering Public Works Department Service Rules, 2024

The state Cabinet on Friday approved the Meghalaya Engineering Public Works Department Service Rules, 2024.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said instead of amending the Meghalaya Engineering Public Works Department Service Rules, 1995 the government had come up with fresh rules.

“Hence, we have scrapped the old rules and we have brought in the new rules. Basically we could have gone in with the amendment also but as I said the amendments there were so many of them that it is easier to simply come up with the fresh sets of rules. So today the Meghalaya Engineering Public Works Department Service Rules, 2024 has been approved by the Cabinet,” he said.

The CM also informed that the Cabinet has also approved the Bill relating to the Meghalaya Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act, 2006 for tabling in the upcoming Assembly budget session.
