WILLIAMNAGAR, AUG 7: Six policemen miraculously escaped being killed when a bomb went off on the route the policemen were travelling on Wednesday morning. Suspected GNLA militants planted a bomb that went off near the Nengkhra Williamnagar road in East Garo Hills district at 8.30 am.
Six police personnel were travelling in a bullet proof truck that traveled through the road.
East Garo Hills SP JFK Marak said that the blast was triggered 2-3 kilometres away from Nengkhra on Nengkhra Williamnagar Road when the six police personnel were moving from Nengkhra to Williamnagar.
Marak told this website that that bomb that went off was clamoured IED and was put on the culvert on the roadside.
Marak informed that though two IEDs were placed but luckily only one of them explode. He also said that flash gun of a camera was used to detonate the bomb and luckily no one was injured in the incident.
The bullet-proof truck carrying police personnel were partially damaged due to the impact of the explosion, Marak informed. Police recovered electric wire about 30 metre long and splinters of the bomb from the site.
Soon after the blast, police have launched a massive combing operations in the areas to nabbed those responsible for planting the bombs.-By Our Reporter
