SHILLONG, MAR 9: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today accused Hill State People Democratic Party (HSPDP) chief Ardent M Basaiawmoit of trying to “mislead” and “hurt” the sentiments of the people.
In a statement, BJP state general secretary David Kharsati said the motion moved by Basaiawmoit in the Assembly on the celebration of “Good Governance Day” in Meghalaya was only a plan to tarnish the image of the NDA-led central government.
He informed that the party in the state had observed the Good Governance Day on December 23as December 25 is a holiday to observe the birth of Jesus Christ.
Kharsati stated that even BJP national spokesperson Gopal Krishna Agarwal had announced that Good Governance Day for Meghalaya would be observed on December 23.
“So the attitude of Basaiawmoit is nothing but to mislead and hurt the religious sentiments of Meghalayans,” he added.
