Shillong, October 28: Two unidentified youths allegedly attempted to kidnap the son of East Jaintia hills Superintendent of Police (SP) MK Dkhar from a city college early on Monday morning. But the Class XII student of the St. Edmund College gave the potential kidnappers a slip by hiding inside the college campus toilet.
It is learnt that the two unidentified youths went up to MK Dkhar’s son and informed him that his father had met with an accident and he has to accompany them. However, the son of the police officer smelled something fishy about the whole thing and he just pretended that he wanted to go to the toilet and contacted his father from there.
It is learnt that he also alerted the college authority even as he saw from the toilet that the two boys were waiting from him outside.
East Khasi hills SP (city) Vivek Syiem told reporters that the police are already on the job of trying to identify and arrest the two youths who allegedly wanted to kidnapped the police officer’s son. It is learnt that the two boys did not dared to enter the school building even though they were within the college premises.
Soon after the incident, the St Edmund’s college principal Sylvanus Lamare filed a attempt to kidnap FIR in Laitumkhrah police station.
Meanwhile East Khasi hills SP M Kharkhrang said police are trying to ascertain whether it is really a kidnapping case or not and if yes the reasons behind the attempt. He said only after arresting the boys the police will be able to give a clear picture.- By Our Reporter
