Shillong, January 19: The controversy and allegations surrounding the alleged nexus between chief minister Mukul Sangma and the militant outfit ANVC (B) refuse to die down as the outfit commander-in-chief Mokus Marak sought to clarify that the nexus was not with the Rimpu Marak- who is now the chairman of the breakaway faction of the ANVC- but with Dilash Marak.
The nexus controversy surfaced after the ANVC (B) publicity secretary Aajaju R Marak, who the ANVC (B) claimed has left the organization, issued a press statement to the media saying that chief minister Mukul Sangma had used them to catapult himself to the seat of the chief minister in the last term.
Sangma, however, had denied any link with the militant outfit saying that he is one politician who does not have any nexus either with the ANVC (B) or any other militant outfits. But the allegations have stirred enough controversy as Sangma’s political opponent like the UDP and NPP have demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged nexus.
However on Sunday the ANVC (B) commander in chief Markus Marak issued a statement saying that though Rimpu Marak did meet the chief minister and he (Markus) had called up Garo MLAs to direct them to support Mukul Sangma during the leadership crisis, but said Dilash, as the chairman then, ordered them ( Markus and Rimpu) and accordingly both carried his orders..
Marcus claimed that Dilash and Wanding were in constant touch with Mukul Sangma and were also instrumental in kidnapping of the NCP MDCs. He said, “We did our part hoping something good may turn up for Garo hills but all we get to do is bury the dead bodies of our cadres.”
Marcus also claimed that because he and Rimpu were not in good term with Mukul Sangma, therefore, the government wants them dead. He mentioned that the call records of Dilash, Wanding, Mukul Sangma and his PS will confirm the nexus. He said Rimpu Marak is just being made the scapegoat by all these leaders and being hunted. – By Our Reporter
