TURA, SEPT 16: The A’chik Matgrik Elite Force (AMEF) on Wednesday joined the chorus blaming the Mukul Sangma led Congress coalition government of diluting the spirit of sixth schedule.
The outfit lambasted the Congress party for allotting tickets to non-tribal candidates for the GHADC elections. “Our Garo leaders have sold the district council to others”, said Kuatsrang Matgrik, publicity secretary AMEF in a statement.
The Congress party has allotted ticket to Sader Hussain for Shyamnagar and Monirul Islam for Balachanda constituency. The polling is slated for October 12. “Congress has hurt the sentiments of the Garos by allotting ticket to non-tribal, we strongly object the decision of the Congress party”, Matgrik added.
The outfit warned to initiate strong “action” against the party. “If Congress party do not revoke its decision, we will not allow Congress candidate to campaign”, the release warned. It also appealed to the public to support their demand as it is in the interest of the Garo people.-From Our Correspondent
